Parker's top five money saving deals

Saving money? We've scoured the UK for this week's top five money saving deals.

All deals are valid from 27th February 2009.

25 PER CENT OFF BREAKDOWN COVER

How does it work?

Breakdown cover company Green Flag is offering a 25 per cent discount when you buy cover online. With prices starting from £25 you will be hard pushed to find chepaer cover anywhere else.

 

What else is there?

Tesco customers can still get money off breakdown cover with the RAC using clubcard points. Use £15 worth of vouchers to get RAC Roadside cover or £22 worth will get you joint cover. If you don't save Tesco vouchers you could always go for their own breakdown cover. Prices start from £26 for roadside assistance.

The AA is continuing its online discount of 35 per cent with prices starting from £29. If you buy online you will also be entered in to a prize draw to win £100 fuel voucher.

0% FINANCE WITH SUZUKI

How does it work?

Suzuki has extended its 0% finance offer across the whole range with the Swift, Splash and SX4 all available on a two year deal with a 50 per cent deposit.

The Grand Vitara offered over three years, subject to a 40 per cent deposit. The offer runs up until 31st March.

 

What else is there?

Buyers looking at getting a new Citroen will find a number of models across the range available on 0% APR typical finance. The offer includes the C3, C4 Coupe and Hatchback, C5 Saloon and Tourer, C8 and Xsara Picasso. All are based over two years with a minimum of 20 per cent deposit except the Xsara Picasso which is based over three years with same deposit.

                   

FREE INSURANCE FOR A YEAR

How does it work?

Buyers after a new Vauxhall can get one year’s free insurance on a brand new Corsa Club and Corsa models with air con.

The manufacturer has extended the offer and it is now avialable up until 31st March.

  

What else is there?

Mazda is also offering buyers free insurance, but only on the Mazda2 model. The offer applies to the Mazda2 3dr and Mazda2 Tamura models and is available up until 31st March.


Cheap fuel and rewards

How does it work?

With fuel starting to creep up in price again the best way to save some cash is by taking advantage of supermarket points and clubcards.

Sainsbury's shoppers can take advantage by getting Nectar points when they buy petrol or diesel. These can be used to redeem rewards from a number of shops, not just from Sainsbury's.

Morrisons shoppers can take advantage of the Morrisons miles scheme. Similar to the Nectar points this also means you can earn points when topping with fuel.

 

What else is there?

As always Tesco is offering clubcard points for when customers fill up with fuel. You get a point for every pound spent on the forecourt and this can be used to get money off a number of things including breakdown cover from RAC.

How does it work?

There are big savings available on a number of brand new cars, just make sure you shop around to find the best offer. They can be found at different car supermarkets and brokers and include some of Britain's best-loved cars.

As well as the deals on the Insignia and the Mondeo you can also get a new Volkswagen Polo with a saving of £3000, at just £9999, and a brand new Ford Fiesta for £11,752 a saving of nearly £2000 on the list price.

What else is there?

Broadspeed.com still has the 'buy one car, get one free' offer available on the Kia Magentis. If you buy one Magentis 2.0 GS for £15k, you get one absolutely free. 

Fiat currently has savings on a number of models right across the range including £3700 on the Sedici and £1495 off the Doblo. Buyers can also save up to £2000 on the Grande Punto depending on the which model you go for. There is also £1225 off the Bravo with all offers running up to 31st March.

Great news about pump prices, but as the manager of a small business I have got increasingly frustrated by the petrol stations not passing on the falls in the oil price as quick as they should do.

Before xmas I opened an account witha discount fuelcard company and am currently saving 4ppl when I fill up locallyand 11ppl the other day when I filled up on the motorway.
