Toyota has launched an upgraded Auris for 2010 featuring fresh styling, improved interiors, uprated suspension and steering, and new trim levels.

On sale now, the new family of three and five-door hatchbacks have a reprofiled front-end which brings the car more into line with the Avensis and Verso models. Other styling tweaks include indicators now housed in the wing mirrors, revised rear lamp clusters and added chromework on the rear hatchback.

Inside, Toyota is promising increased quality materials and a revised centre console.

UK customer feedback has also resulted in new suspension settings and a revised power steering set-up.

The range now includes three trim levels - T2, TR and the new SR which is only available with a 1.6-litre petrol engine and comes with sportier styling inside and out.

The existing range of petrol and diesel engines are carried over, and will be joined in July by the Auris HSD - a petrol/electric hybrid which uses the familiar technology from the Prius model.

Prices for the new Auris range start at £14,463.
