French firm Citroen is offering new car buyers free fuel for a year when they buy a car between October and December 2011.

Available to retail and selected business customers, the offer is available on some of the manufacturer’s most popular cars including the C1, C3, C3 Picasso, C4, C4 Picasso and Grand C4 Picasso.

All the cars will be delivered with a pre-loaded MatserCard debit card to cover the cost of one year’s petrol or diesel and could be worth up to £1,500. While petrol prices are slowly falling, the prospect of not having to pay for fuel could be a welcome relief for many motorists.

The amount of money that comes with the car is based on the particular models claimed combined economy and on an average of 10,000 miles a year. This means you’ll want to drive as economically as possible.

With the C3 e- HDi 90 and C4 1.6 e-HDi achieving 78mpg and 74mpg respectively, you should be able to get a fair few miles out of the free fuel. Plus both of these models also dip below the 100g/km emission barrier making them free to tax too.

This offer from Citroen runs from October 1, 2011 until December 31, 2011.
