New i3

BMW I3

BMW’s first electric car is one of the headline acts for the German manufacturer at this year’s show.

The i3 has a range of around 80-100 miles which can be fully charged in approximately eight to 10 hours by using a household socket or four hours if you have the car’s BMW i Wallbox charger unit.

The new BMW i3 is due to arrive in showrooms in November.

i8

BMW i8

BMW has unveiled a new high performance hybrid called the i8, capable of getting from of 0-62mph in under five seconds.

Its plug-in hybrid system consists of a turbocharged three-cylinder TwinPower Turbo petrol engine and an electric drive system.

As well as being a quick car with a striking design, the i8 has some impressive headline figures. In all-electric mode the car can travel up to 22 miles and boasts an official fuel consumption figure of approximately 78mpg.

New facelifted X5

BMW X5 facelift

The third-generation X5, due to reach UK showrooms in November, is one of the highlights on the BMW stand this year.

The range will initially be made up of the xDrive30d, M50d and xDrive50i and all versions come with an eight-speed automatic transmission.

There will be two trim levels: SE and M Sport, and prices will start at £42,590.

Some of the stand-out characteristics of the new BMW X5 include its enhanced performance, reduced fuel consumption and improved CO2 emissions.

X5 eDrive concept

BMW X5 e-Drive hybrid Frankfurt

Alongside BMW’s first ever production electric car is the BMW Concept X5 eDrive, a hybrid version of the popular X5.

Following in the footsteps of the BMW Concept Active Tourer unveiled in 2012, the BMW Concept X5 eDrive is the second plug-in hybrid vehicle to feature BMW’s eDrive electric drivetrain.

Not yet confirmed as a production vehicle, the Concept X5 eDrive boasts emissions under 90g/km and impressive fuel economy of 74.3mpg. The X5 eDrive concept is capable of reaching 75mph in electric mode alone and achieved 74.3mpg combined during the official testing process.
