Alfa Romeo has launched two new hot performance models – the Giulietta Quadrifoglio Verde and the Mito Quadrifoglio Verde.

Both models were first seen at Geneva Motor Show this year and are due to go on sale at the end of July.

Guilietta Quadrifoglio Verde

Using the same engine and automatic gearbox used in the 4C sportscar, the new Giulietta Quadrifoglio Verde boasts some impressive performance credentials; the 0-62mph sprint is achieved in 6 seconds with a top speed of 149mph.

There is 237bhp at your disposal plus a new Launch Control function for perfect getaways and a refined engine note which sounds great when you put your foot to the floor.

It’s a beautiful car and its sporty nature is further emphasised by the dark-tinted rear windows, twin exhaust tailpipes, 18-inch alloy wheels, visable brake discs and new sport seats all available as standard.

It’s pretty expensive though with prices starting from £28,120. Other highlights from the standard equipment list includes front and rear parking sensors, Bluetooth, sat-nav, DAB Radio, aluminum sports pedals, sports suspension, leather interior and Alfa’s DNA switch – which allows you to change the car’s driving characteristics between Dynamic, Normal and All-weather depending upon your requirements.

Described more as a performance car rather than a ‘hot hatch’ by the Italian manufacturer, the new Guilietta Quadrifoglio Verde is pitching itself against some pretty fierce competition from the Volkswagen Golf GTI and Audi S3.

The figures at a glance:

Price: £28,120

Power: 237bhp

Top speed: 149mph

0-62mph: 6 seconds

Mito Quadrifoglio Verde

The new Alfa Romeo Mito Quadrifoglio Verde undergoes a similar transformation to the Giulietta, the most visible changes include an enhanced grille and headlight design, rear spoiler, twin chrome exhaust pipes, 18-inch alloy wheels and visible brake discs.

Priced from £20,120 the new Mito Quadrifoglio Verde also boasts some keen performance figures and is powered by a 1.4-litre MultiAir Turbo Petrol engine which is paired with a six-speed automatic transmission (with steering-wheel paddle-shifters) for the first time.

Ideally suited to the city, the Mito Quadrifoglio Verde has 168bhp at its disposal and achieves the 0-62mph sprint in 7.3 seconds with a top speed of 136mph.

When it comes to kit, highlights from the standard specification list include Bluetooth, five-inch multimedia system, USB port, sat-nav, DAB Radio, adaptive suspension, 18-inch alloy wheels and leather interior touches.

Despite the performance credentials CO2 emissions and fuel economy are pretty good with an official combined consumption figure of 52.3mpg and CO2 emissions of 124g/km.

The figures at a glance:

Price: £20,210

Power: 168bhp

Top speed: 136mph

0-62mph: 7.3 seconds
