This year's best new car deal

28 November 2008
  • Buy a Mazda CX-7, get a Mazda 2 completely free
  • Save more than £8000 on two cars
  • Buy both for just £24,970

Car buyers can buy a brand new Mazda CX-7 for £24,970 and get a Mazda 2 completely free - the best deal we have seen this year.

Emgmotorgroup.com is not the first dealer to offer a 'buy one car, get one free' scheme, but it is the best.

Previous deals have offered slow-selling and unpopular models like the Kia Magentis and Dodge Avenger, but this one offers two cars that are far more attractive.

The first is a Mazda CX-7 2.3 DISI Turbo - priced at £24,970. It's a good car to drive, attractive, roomy and very well built. But as it is only available with a thirsty 2.3-litre turbocharged engine, fuel economy is a let down.

The 'free' car is one that Parker's considers to be one the best small cars you can buy: a Mazda 2 1.3-litre TS worth £8544. Buyers already interested in the CX-7 and Mazda 2 would usually be looking to spend over £33k, meaning you could save over £8000 with the ‘buy one, get one free’ offer.

The CX-7 already comes with a £7541 saving on its own on emgmotorgroup.com, priced at just £16,999, and buyers can also save over £400 on the Mazda 2 1.4 DTS2, from £10,499.

Broadspeed.com started the ‘buy one car, get one free’ trend by offering the deal on a brand new Dodge Avenger. This proved to be so popular that the website crashed and the company eventually sold-out of the Avenger.

Broadspeed.com is now offering a similar deal on the Kia Magentis, following plummeting car sales for the sixth month running.

Is this really a good deal?

The Mazda 2 is one of the best small cars around and is a smart alternative to the Vauxhall Corsa, Ford Fiesta and Peugeot 207. It’s stylish, packed with equipment, good to drive and it holds its value.

Mazda's CX-7 is a family car that combines 4x4 looks with an engaging driving experience akin to its sportier models. Unlike previous ‘buy one car, get one free’ offers, buyers looking to dramatically save on a brand new car can now buy two stylish and completely different cars with a huge saving.

How much can I sell them for?

The CX-7 will be a relatively rare sight on UK roads, but it should still be appealing to people who want a practical family car, that is easy to drive and isn't ponderous to drive like many 4x4s. You should be able to get around £16,120 in a private sale.

Private buyers will appreciate the value-for-money and reliability that the 2 offers, and it should get you almost £7000 in a private sale.
