French firm Citroen was founded in 1919 and was the first company to mass-produce cars outside of the USA. It has built several iconic cars over the years including the 2CV and the DS. Today Citroen produces a wide range of cars, including small city cars such as the C1 as well as design-led cars such as the DS3.

Citroen also competes against the likes of the Ford Focus with its Citroen C4 hatchback and has launched a popular people carrier, the C4 Picasso and the larger Grand C4 Picasso. Citroen also has other family cars including the C5 and DS5 aimed at company car drivers, plus the more utilitarian Berlingo Multispace.

Citroen is a successful van maker, too, with models ranging from the tiny Nemo to the large Relay. Its e-Dispatch electric van is one of the best on the market.

Citroen is a company with a history of innovation. Andre Citroën, who set up the marque, used the Eiffiel Tower as a billboard for his company and claimed a Guiness World Record for the largest advertising sign in the process.

The cars the company built also demonstrated an innovative approach to car technology and design. The 2CV was a best-seller thanks to its simple construction, cheap purchase price and distinctive looks, while the DS saw the first full use of self-levelling suspension as well as being the first European car with disc brakes.
