New cars on show Note, 370Z Nismo and GTR Nismo
Nissan has been shouting from the rooftops not so much about the new Note – and very nice it is too – but more about its newest innovation – the Nissan Safety Shield.
So the Note’s nice, say Nissan, but more importantly it’s the ‘Safety Shield’ that will play a key part in its success.
The Nissan Safety Shield has three safety systems – Blind Spot Warning, Lane Departure Warning and Moving Object Detection (a system that detects pedestrians that are the path of travel) and Around View Mirror that essentially gives a bird’s eye view of the car in its surroundings.
While this fancy tech is not new on cars it is a first for the small car sector so that’s big news isn’t it?

370Z Nismo
For those who like a little bit extra from their finely tuned sports cars, there’s the 370Z Nismo.
If the pleasantly quick 370Z doesn’t hit the spot, Nissan’s performance brand Nismo has bumped up the power and given it some fancy bits to make it look more imposing.
Now with 341bhp and 371Nm of torque, it will achieve the 0-62mph in 5.2 seconds and, doubltess, with a sportier suspension set-up it’ll go around corners at an even more alarming rate.
Available only as a coupe it has a six-speed manual gearbox, some interior and exterior mods, a more aggressive front end, a rear spoiler, 19-inch alloys and red brake callipers.
GT-R Nismo
It is worth noting that, just for the record, there’s a GT-R Nismo on the way.
It is fair to say that the standard GT-R is stupidly fast and preposterous as it is, but Nismo will apply its hand to make the GT-R even more stupidly fast and preposterous. The headline stat here is the 0-62mph time of… 2.7 seconds
The GT-R Nismo will be the third Nismo-badged model to emerge from Nissan’s performance-orientated brand following the 370Z Nismo and the Juke Nismo.
“It would be unthinkable for us to develop a range of Nismo road cars without including the GT-R,” said Nissan CEO, Carlos Ghosn. And he would know.
Revised LEAF
Not much has changed for the LEAF but there has been a few tech changes and more choice on equipment, colour and price.
Resonance Concept
We’ve seen this before but it does make its European debut. Although it is standard Concept fare with a space-age interior its advanced hybrid electric drivetrain offering strong performance with low CO2 emissions is the major draw.
