SEAT unveiled its Leon SC – Sports Coupé – to you sir, and tells us it’s a ‘striking three-door hatchback that is the perfect embodiment of the SEAT design language’.

So, this what we say. It’s a three-door Leon.

The SC tag has always bothered us. Apart from having two less doors, the SC isn’t much different from the standard Leon five-door.

Still, it does look like a nice car despite our scepticism about the naming policy and, if you like, it does marry a bit of sportiness with practicality. That 380-litre boot is the same as that in the five-door.

The engine range features both TSI petrol and TDI diesel units from 1.2- to 2.0 litres. Power outputs range from 103bhp to 182bhp. The cleanest 1.6-litre TDI emits less than 100g/km CO2.

Just like the five-door Leon, the Leon SC is offered in S, SE and FR specifications in the UK.

SEAT also promises an estate version of the Leon will be launched by the end of the year.
