Our guide to the Frankfurt Motor Show 15 September 2011 by Parkers Team See all the new cars and concepts from Frankfurt All unveils covered with exclusive pictures and info Coverage direct from the largest motor show Welcome to Parkers' report from one of the biggest car shows in the world. The 64th Frankfurt IAA was the latest event in a line of German car shows stretching back to Hotel Bristol, Berlin in 1897, where just eight vehicles were shown to the public. Now held biannually, it's a much bigger affair than it was all those decades ago. As ever with large motor shows, concept cars featured heavily, alongside unveils of new derivatives of some of the most popular cars currently available. There were also a few headline-grabbing supercars from the top sports car firms, and of course the ubiquitous smattering of scantily-clad ladies should you get bored of staring at metal. The important cars at this show included the close-to-production 911-rival from Jaguar dubbed the C-X16, Mercedes-Benz's new B-Class compact MPV, Volkswagen's Up city car, Peugeot's 508 RXH diesel hybrid saloon crossover, Ford's low-tax ECOnetic Focus and Fiesta and Mazda's CX-5 crossover featuring the firm's new SKYACTIV technology. This year's Frankfurt show is also packed full of new supercars. Ferrari showed its convertible 'Spider' version of the 458. Other firms displaying hot machinery included Fisker, Aston Martin, Lotus, and believe it or not, Kia.
