I live in rural Lincolnshire so a car is pretty much essential – the nearest shops are six miles away. Commute to office is about 45 minutes each way, and work usually requires frequent longer journeys to airports when attending overseas media launches for new cars. No energetic hobbies that would require the car to accommodate bikes, surfboards or hang-gliding gear.
Auris is a new name for an all-new Toyota hatchback designed, developed and engineered for the European market and built in Europe. Distinctively styled, built to Toyota's trademark superior quality standards throughout and delivering first class safety and driving performance, Auris is set to transform Toyota's profile in one of the most significant and competitive market sectors.
The Auris looks fairly conventional on the outside, but the interior looks more interesting, and there appear to be some clever features. The new 2.0-litre diesel engine should go well in our test car, and I’m expecting to cover perhaps 10,000 hassle-free miles behind the wheel before its return to Toyota.
