Alfa Romeo 159 Sportwagon (06-11) - Review Review by Simon Harris on 13 July 2006 Last Updated: 25 November 2009 The Alfa 159 Sportwagon is a far more effective estate than its predecessor the 156. The earlier car was an afterthought, that appeared three years after the 156 saloon - but the 159 Sportwagon was developed alongside its saloon counterpart, launched in 2006. The Sportwagon is much stiffer than the old model, making it feel better on the road but one of the biggest improvement is to its load carrying ability. It also looks very attractive, but list prices set it against rather prestigious competition, which have a greater depth of ability. 4 out of 5 Other Alfa Romeo reviews Summary Facts & Figures Equipment Driving & Performance Comfort Costs Safety & Reliability Buying & Selling Also Consider Company Car Info Owners' Reviews Gallery Also Consider 4.5 out of 5 Audi A4 Avant (08 on) Impressive levels of interior space, well built, good to drive, neat styling, incredibly refined Not quite as fuel efficient as a BMW 3-Series, expensive options Read full review 3.5 out of 5 Saab 9-3 Sportwagon (05-11) Sharp styling on newer models, strong turbocharged engine performance, comfortable ride Lack of rear space, feels dated inside, alternatives are better to drive, boot isn't particularly generous Read full review 4.5 out of 5 BMW 3-Series Touring (05 on) Great to drive, decent level of standard kit, premium image, economical engines Small load area for an estate, limited rear passenger space Read full review Find other estate cars Car Valuations Find used car prices with Parkers accurate car valuations.
