A small Audi is big news in the car world. Signalling the brand’s first ever head-to-head battle with MINI – a car made by Audi’s arch enemy, BMW - the new A1 takes a very different, grown-up approach.

The A1 borrows its platform from the Volkswagen Polo, so it's no surprise that it achieved the full five stars in the Euro NCAP safety tests, performing particularly well for adult protection and safety assist. Audi A1 safety is helped by the inclusion of six airbags and an e-diff that maximises traction out of a corner.

Reliability

In investigations into satisfaction, so far it seems Audi still has some work to do to equal the very best in class. So far high servicing and insurance costs have been denting consumer satisfaction, but there’s also been a few electrical glitches too. Let’s hope the A1 will help turn a new leaf for the brand. In terms of Audi A1 reliability though, there's few worries.
