Audi A4 Saloon (05-07) - Review Review by David Ross on 16 January 2009 The third-generation A4 tries harder than ever to be a credible alternative to the class-leading BMW 3-Series and Mercedes C-Class. Although it looks very similar to the outgoing model, every body panel has changed and there's a new, more aggressive, look for the front end. There are also some new engine options, new gearboxes and the suspension has been redesigned. The formula is essentially unchanged but the A4 now has some extra polish to keep it on top of its game. It can't quite better its rivals, but it remains a worthy contender. 4.5 out of 5 Other Audi reviews Summary Facts & Figures Equipment Driving & Performance Comfort Costs Safety & Reliability Buying & Selling Also Consider Company Car Info Owners' Reviews Gallery Also Consider 4.5 out of 5 BMW 3-Series Saloon (05-11) Great to drive, decent level of standard kit, premium image, superbly built, refined interior Expensive options, firm ride Read full review 4 out of 5 Mercedes-Benz C-Class Saloon (00-07) Prestige, brand image, slow depreciation Earliest petrol engines were thirsty Read full review 4 out of 5 Alfa Romeo 159 Saloon (06-11) Stunning styling, charismatic interior, great to drive, sporty nature, excellent diesels Tight rear passenger space, poor ride comfort Read full review Find other saloon cars Car Valuations Find used car prices with Parkers accurate car valuations.
