BMW 3-Series Coupé (06 on) - Review Review by Simon Harris on 20 September 2006 Last Updated: 16 August 2011 As four-seat coupes go, few cars are as good looking or as enjoyable to drive as the BMW 3-Series Coupe - it's a classic design with a sleek yet understated air while inside it's beautifully finished with top grade materials. Only minor elements such as the door handles are carried over from the 3-Series saloon - the rest is bespoke to the Coupe. It's as good to drive as it looks too - the low slung driving position is perfect, the steering precise and responsive and body control excellent. It's also surprisingly practical with a good sized boot, although taller passengers may find the rear cramped. But when it comes to performance the 3-Series Coupe doesn't disappoint with some cracking engines - the 335i and 335d being the pick of the bunch. It was given a mild facelift in early 2010 along with more powerful and efficient engines. 4.5 out of 5 Other BMW reviews Summary Facts & Figures Equipment Driving & Performance Comfort Costs Safety & Reliability Buying & Selling Also Consider Company Car Info Owners' Reviews Gallery 4 out of 5 Comfort The latest Coupé is considerably roomier than its predecessor, particularly for rear-seat passengers. But don't think it's exactly Tardis-like - legroom is still quite restricted, especially if you're an adult in the back and there's a six-footer behind the wheel. But it's comfortable enough with two sculpted seats and decent head space. Automatic climate control is standard and, new to BMW (although the Mercedes-Benz CLK has provided this feature for several years), is an automatic seatbelt handover system - an metal arm extends from over your shoulder with the seatbelt. Cruise control is standard and options include 'comfort access' keyless entry, which allows the car to be unlocked with the key still in a pocket or handbag. As a strict four-seater, there is a little room for storage between the two rear passengers, but the back seats do split and fold to extend luggage space. There is a storage compartment in the front armrest, the glovebox is a decent size and the door bins open outwards to improve access. The amount of dashboard buttons depends on whether the optional i-Drive system is chosen or not -without it the audio and climate functions are accessed through buttons on the dashboard. With i-Drive these functions (as well as navigation and telephone controls) are controlled via a dial mounted on the centre console. The driver's seat has a good level of adjustment and the steering can be altered for reach and height. View full gallery Car Valuations Find used car prices with Parkers accurate car valuations.
