Cadillac SRX (07-08) - Review Review by Dan Harrison on 27 March 2007 The SRX is a large 4x4 vehicle that's designed to be comfortable and easy to drive on-road, rather than a hardcore off roader. Its main strengths are that it comes with seven seats as standard (although the extra row doesn't offer that much room), comes well equipped and is distinctively styled. It was designed and is built in the US but unfortunately falls short of the interior refinement and driving sophistication that you'd expect in a car with this price tag. It's a rare site in UK roads, due in part to its sheer size, making it a good choice if you want to stand out, but there are far better alternatives available for similar money. 3 out of 5 Other Cadillac reviews Summary Facts & Figures Equipment Driving & Performance Comfort Costs Safety & Reliability Buying & Selling Also Consider Company Car Info Gallery 2.5 out of 5 Running costs The SRX isn't cheap to own, but has running costs that are similar to many other petrol-engined cars in this class. On the plus side, the market isn't flooded with them, so a niche market for American cars, sensible list prices and a high specification help to keep values higher than they may otherwise be. With no diesel on offer, fuel consumption is an issue - the 3.6-litre is capable of 21mpg, while the 4.6-litre manages just 20mpg. Both cars also fall into the highest group for road tax. Summary Running Costs Servicing period Every 10,000 miles. Warranty Three years/60,000 miles. Road tax (12 months) £475.00 - £475.00 Vehicle excise duty (VED) varies according to the CO2 emissions and the fuel type of the vehicle. Emissions summary With a choice between a 3.6 V6 or 4.6 V8 petrol engine, it's no surprise that the SRX gets a rock-bottom eco score. The smaller engine achieves 21mpg and emits 317g/km CO2, which although is about average for a large petrol 4x4, is exceptionally poor compared to the average family car. A Mondeo will typically emit about 180g/km CO2. Find the exact engine and CO2 Car Valuations Find used car prices with Parkers accurate car valuations.
