Cadillac SRX (07-08) - Review

Review by Dan Harrison on
The SRX is a large 4x4 vehicle that's designed to be comfortable and easy to drive on-road, rather than a hardcore off roader. Its main strengths are that it comes with seven seats as standard (although the extra row doesn't offer that much room), comes well equipped and is distinctively styled. It was designed and is built in the US but unfortunately falls short of the interior refinement and driving sophistication that you'd expect in a car with this price tag. It's a rare site in UK roads, due in part to its sheer size, making it a good choice if you want to stand out, but there are far better alternatives available for similar money.

Safety

The SRX wasn't tested by Euro NCAP, however, it does come with six airbags (dual front, side and curtain), ABS, seatbelt pre-tensioners and Isofix-style child seat anchor points. Due to its sheer size, it's unlikely to come off worse in an accident plus there's also remote central locking, an immobiliser and alarm.

Reliability

The SRX is something of an unknown. It feels sturdily built and has well proven (in the States at least) engines. But with limited sales in the UK, it's difficult to gauge how the how the brand is performing. As a pointer, the SRX has performed better than average in US reliability surveys and has been on sale in the US since 2004.
