Chrysler 300C SRT-8 (06-10) - Review

Chrysler's 300C has brought the company huge success in an image-conscious sector thanks to its stand-out styling, generous equipment levels and keen pricing. But if the standard engines leave you wanting more then the SRT-8 could be the answer. Powered by a 6.1-litre V8 with 420bhp it can sprint from 0-62mph in just 5.0 seconds - that's almost as quick as a BMW M5, while uprated brakes and suspension help keep all the power under control. But while it's quick it lacks a little in sophistication and the handling, steering and body control aren't a match for German super saloons.

Buying used

Probably the best way to buy an SRT-8 is from a Chrysler dealer and it can be a real bargain considering the performance it offers. Make sure it comes with a full service history.

Selling

There are few SRT-8s around, so if you own one, it shouldn't take very long to sell. There is high demand for the 300C on the used market, although this niche model has more restricted appeal than the diesel.
