Chrysler Grand Voyager (08 on) - Review Review by Simon Harris on 04 January 2008 Last Updated: 01 December 2009 When it comes to large and comfortable people carriers, Chrysler has always been adept at producing good value cars. Unfortunately quality and refinement haven't been up to scratch and worse still, the 2001 model suffered from a shocking Euro NCAP safety record. The 2008 model is a far superior offering that feels solidly built but is still well equipped and hugely versatile thanks to the ingenious Stow 'n Go seating system that allows you to fold all the chairs flat. However it's not a nimble on-road companion, and the diesel engine can't compete with rivals for economy or smoothness. 4 out of 5 Other Chrysler reviews Summary Facts & Figures Equipment Driving & Performance Comfort Costs Safety & Reliability Buying & Selling Also Consider Company Car Info Owners' Reviews Gallery 4.5 out of 5 Comfort All passengers have plenty of room in the Grand Voyager - the middle row has two individual chairs and the third row is a 60:40 split bench. Models with the optional Swivel 'n Go seating get two Captain's chairs in place of the three in the second row. These are hugely comfortable and have a real luxury feel to them. The rearmost seats offer decent room and access is good, but for longer journeys they're really only suited for children and teenagers. However this row does offer more room than most seven-seat people carriers. Air conditioning is fitted as standard across the range while the stiff body means there’s minimal vibration in the cabin, even over rough roads. Even with all the seats in use, there is still 756 litres of luggage space - that's more than executive estates like the Mercedes E-Class. But the best thing is the Stow ‘n Go seating system. This allows you to fold all five chairs into the floor to create a flat 3,296-litre load space - plus folding them flat and lifting them back into place is easy. All the seats can be slid forward and back and legroom is superb too, making the Grand Voyager one of the most flexible people carriers around. And when the seats are in place, the compartments they stow into double as additional underfloor storage areas. Electrically-sliding wide rear doors come as standard on all models and make getting in and out easy, especially in tight spaces. It’s still not perfect though – some of the plastics feel a little brittle, it's cramped and the wood trim on top models is naff. There’s also still no reach adjustment on the steering wheel, but there are improvements - a neat floor mounted shifter replaces the ugly column change, the layout is more attractive and overall it feels better built.
