Chrysler Neon (99-03) - Review

Review by Parkers on
A re-skinned version of the 96-99 Neon, with excellent levels of standard equipment, all at a competitive price. The hot Neon R/T looks good and is willing, but the engine feels coarse and strained. Sadly the problems with rear space and the poor ride quality remain. This does not endear it to family buyers.

Comfort

This generation Neon is a little bigger than before, but the rear seat could still be roomier. It's a bit quieter, too, but nothing remarkable. The seats could offer more support on longer journeys.

Practicality

Large, airy cabin with good leg and headroom all round, although it's best to have only two adults in the back. The boot is as large as you'd expect from an American car.

Behind the wheel

The steering wheel is a poor design. The driving position is comfortable and all-round visibility is good. Light power steering makes Neon highly manoeuvrable and easy to park. It doesn't feel as big as it really is.
