Citroën Grand C4 Picasso (07 on) - Review

The Grand C4 Picasso bristles with bright ideas designed to make owning a people carrier easier and more enjoyable. There are easy fold-flat seats in the back, a huge windscreen for better visibility, lots of clever storage areas and even a boot light that doubles as a torch. And being a Citroën, it’s generally good value for money and very comfortable. It's safe to drive and extremely refined too but is let down a little by a dire gearchange on the semi-automatic, while the quality of some of the interior plastics could be better. However as people carriers go, it's good-looking as well as being extremely family-friendly.

Safety

The Grand C4 Picasso hasn't been crash tested by Euro NCAP but the five-seat C4 Picasso was awarded a maximum five-star Euro NCAP crash test score. All cars have seven airbags (dual front, side, curtain and driver’s knee), ABS with electronic brake force distribution and an electronic stability programme, four Isofix child seat anchor points (an exceptionally high amount) and hill start assist. Plus there is a ‘lane departure warning system’ on top models, which is activated when the driver strays over white lines and an interior mirror for keeping an eye on the kids in the back. Security-wise, every car gets remote central locking with deadlocks and an immobiliser.

Reliability

Build quality appears reasonable, but the C4 has suffered from a string of faults and so far had disappointing reliability. Hopefully these problems have been ironed out for the Grand C4 Picasso.
