Corvette C6 Coupé (05 on) - Review Review by Simon Harris on 04 January 2008 Last Updated: 01 December 2009 The Corvette is a rare sight in the UK, but it offers a lot of car for the money. It costs less than a BMW M3, but the Corvette has real supercar pace and presence. The latest C6 model that arrived in 2004 also handles as well as most of its European opposition and offers decent practicality too, although the fact it's left-hand drive only hampers it in the UK. The Z06 was launched at the start of 2006 and ups the ante further with a 7.0-litre V8 engine pumping out 505bhp to put the Corvette right up there with the very quickest cars. 3 out of 5 Other Corvette reviews Summary Facts & Figures Equipment Driving & Performance Comfort Costs Safety & Reliability Buying & Selling Also Consider Company Car Info Gallery 1.5 out of 5 Running costs The C6 and Z06 are markedly cheaper than most of their competitors with similar performance and specification. However, limited buyer interest also means the Corvette loses value more rapidly before levelling out at a point where enthusiasts will become very interested. Running any car with a sizeable V8 engine is not cheap, but the Z06’s 24mpg is not as damaging to your bank account as some rivals’. That said, insurance and servicing will generate big bills.
