Daewoo Tacuma (00-05) - Review

Review by Parkers on
Tacuma is Daewoo’s Picasso, Scenic and Zafira rival in the compact MPV sector and it’s cheaper than all of them. Modern styling is one of the high points, as is the spacious interior. All models are surprisingly rapid - but it’s not much fun to drive and the slack gearchange could be improved.

Performance

Although the 2.0 gives plenty of pull when it comes to overtaking, we'd go for the 1.6 as it's a good blend of performance and economy. Both engines lack refinement when they're pushed hard.

Handling

Steering feels lifeless and isn't direct enough on the motorway. Suspension is up to absorbing most bumps, but can get caught out by bigger potholes. Imprecise clutch and wooly gearchange lets it down. Less roll than most of its rivals.
