Daihatsu Terios (97-05) - Review

Review by Parkers on
As a tiny off-roader, the Terios is not really suited to the roads of the UK. It isn't a competent on-road performer like the RAV-4, and yet it can't cope with much more than a muddy track, either. The narrow body and high seating position are useful in town, but it isn't able to deliver much in the way of performance. Perhaps the only thing in its favour is Daihatsu's claim that it has the cleanest emissions of any 4x4.

Comfort

There's only room for two in the back - and you've got to be slim, because it's tight. Engine noise is kept under control, but there's too much din from road and wind. Seats are only comfortable for short distances and legroom is tight. Headroom is good, because of its tall shape.

Practicality

There's a small boot but the seats have to be folded to carry a week's supply of shopping. A few storage bins, but nothing special.

Behind the wheel

Good driving position - upright stance gives good view of the road. It's easy in town with standard PAS but less refined at speed. Some drivers will find the interior too narrow and some of the buttons are difficult to reach easily.
