Daihatsu YRV (01-04) - Review

Review by Parkers on
The YRV is billed as a Young Recreational Vehicle - a direct rival to the Nissan Micra and Suzuki Ignis. It's cheap to own, easy to drive and offers a similar package to the Toyota Yaris (with which it shares an engine) for a cheaper price.

Safety

No Euro NCAP rating. However, there are dual front airbags, but side airbags aren't even an option and only top models get ABS. No alarm available.

Reliability

Problems from the Toyota-sourced engine should be few and far between, although that's no excuse for sloppy maintenance. Some interior trim panels are flimsy and may need replacing as the car gets older.

Check for the usual parking scrapes and knocks.

Engine/Gearbox

Must have full Daihatsu service history - Toyota engine is reliable but requires careful attention.

Owners report no problems.
