The Avenger brings a dash of bold American styling to the rather sober and safe-looking large family car segment. Available only as a saloon, the Avenger is roomy and priced against cars like the Kia Magentis. However it's a less well executed vehicle and although it comes with a good diesel engine, borrowed from Volkswagen, it's an average car at best. The poor quality interior and flimsy plastics only reinforce the budget feel and on the road the lack of refinement and sophistication are all too evident.

While the Avenger is priced against mainstream rivals, despite its high level of equipment, it has a budget car feel - list prices are a little high as they are. Fuel consumption is competitive with large saloons with similar power outputs but depreciation will be steep in a market of fast depreciating cars.
