Gaining inspiration from other van-based cars like the Renault Kangoo and Citroen Berlingo, the Fiat Doblo is a spacious and versatile people carrier that (from 2004) is available with seven-seats. The squared-off shape does little for the looks, but it does mean there's loads of room for passengers in the back while folding all the seats down gives an enormous load-space.

Buying used

If you want seven seats then you'll need a Family model - introduced in April 2004 (so an 04-plate or later) but avoid the 1.3-litre MultiJet as it struggles with a full load - instead go for a 1.9-litre diesel which comes with either 105bhp or 120bhp. Be aware that early diesel cars (badged 1.9D) aren't turbocharged and are very slow as a result.

Selling

The Doblo isn't the most attractive car around but is ideal for families on a budget, so emphasise its roominess and practicality. Family models have seven seats and are more desirable.
