Fiat Doblo (01-10) - Review Review by David Ross on 11 December 2008 Gaining inspiration from other van-based cars like the Renault Kangoo and Citroen Berlingo, the Fiat Doblo is a spacious and versatile people carrier that (from 2004) is available with seven-seats. The squared-off shape does little for the looks, but it does mean there's loads of room for passengers in the back while folding all the seats down gives an enormous load-space. It comes well equipped considering the affordable price tag and although not especially refined, does ride well. The smaller engines are best avoided though - only the 1.9-litre MultiJet diesel offers acceptable performance. The base model came with remote central locking, power steering, driver and passenger airbag, height adjustable seatbelts with pre-tensioners, rear wash/wipe, ABS with Electronic Braking Distribution (EBD), radio stereo, electric front windows and a height adjustable steering wheel. The ELX adds 14-inch alloy wheels, split folding 60/40 rear seats, trip computer, rev counter, air conditioning and three rear head restraints. In 2004 the range was revised to Active, Dynamic and Family models. In addition to the existing specification Active versions now benefit from a 60/40 split folding rear seat, a third rear seatbelt and three rear head restraints. Family versions boast the same standard specification as Active models, with the addition of two extra seats, front foglights, and colour coded bumpers and rear door pillars. Over and above the Active specification, Dynamic models now feature air conditioning, a CD stereo, 14" alloy wheels, front foglights, and colour coded bumpers and rear door pillars.
