Basically the same as VW's Sharan and SEAT's Alhambra. Not as flash as the Renault Espace but well liked by owners and less van-like than some big MPVs. Equipment levels are adequate; all have air-con, good security and lots of safety equipment. And like-for-like, it's cheaper than VW's Sharan.

Safety

No Euro NCAP crash test result yet, but it gets ABS, dual front and side airbags for all models and traction control on Ghia. There's remote double central locking for security, with an alarm standard on Zetec and Ghia.

Reliability

Volkswagen's input into the interior is clear, with high quality materials and precise assembly. 1995-2000 models did have some mechanical problems, but these appear to have been sorted.

Used as private cabs and family holdalls, so check for tears, stains and general wear.
