Ford Galaxy (06 on) - Review Review by Ben Wall on 21 April 2006 Last Updated: 24 November 2010 The Ford Galaxy is a very popular people carrier and it's not hard to see why. Practical, spacious and car-like to drive it comes with a great range of engines including some very economical diesels. All models come with seven independent seats and the rear five easily fold flat to create a huge load space while there are more than 30 stowage compartments on board. Ford actually has two large people carriers in its range - the S-MAX and the Galaxy. They're based on the same underpinnings, but the Galaxy is the more practical of the two. Unfortunately it looks quite boxy as a result, but it does mean there's plenty of space for all passengers. Ford revised the Galaxy in 2010 with chrome grille bars and LED rear lights. A new petrol and diesel engine were also introduced, along with Ford’s Powershift double-clutch gearbox. 4 out of 5 Other Ford reviews Summary Facts & Figures Equipment Driving & Performance Comfort Costs Safety & Reliability Buying & Selling Also Consider Company Car Info Owners' Reviews Gallery 4 out of 5 Running costs Thanks to its modern design and spacious interior the Galaxy holds its value well, while the diesel engines offer good economy, including the 2.2 TDCi and its later replacement the 163bhp 2.0-litre turbodiesel. Servicing and parts are very affordable and insurance groups are low too - around 10 or 11, which is actually better than the previous model. * based on most recent data Estimated fuel cost for 10,000 miles per year Unleaded £1,574 - £2,192 * Diesel £1,187 - £1,687 * The estimated fuel cost figure is a guide to how much this model will cost to fuel each year, so you can compare between cars. Emissions summary The Galaxy performs well on the eco-front thanks to its strong range of efficient diesel engines. The 1.8 TDCi is the best in the line-up - strangely the more powerful 125bhp version is actually more economical - it returns 46mpg and emits 165g/km of CO2. The 1.8 TDCi was replaced in 2010 by new, greener 2.0-litre diesels that all emit 152g/km CO2. Find the exact engine and CO2 Car Valuations Find used car prices with Parkers accurate car valuations.
