Honda Accord Saloon (98-03) - Review

Review by Parkers on
The Accord looks no more adventurous than before, but underneath the sleekly anonymous exterior are sophisticated VTEC engines. The chassis has also been revised, so although only the Type-R looks the part, even the 1.8i is a fine drive. And there are now practical hatchbacks, too. As always, overall quality is superb, and Accord is very competitively priced considering all that it offers.

Safety

A four-star Euro NCAP rating places Accord close to the top of the large family sector for its age. Driver, passenger and side airbags are standard on the saloon and hatchback, but the Type-R and Coupe lack side bags. Deadlocks and a rolling code immobiliser mean that drive-away thieves are unlikely to succeed.

Reliability

A class apart when it comes to build quality; this Accord simply should not break down provided it's looked after. Interior is well screwed together - trim rattles are unheard of.
