Civic is a long-running model name for Honda, but the late 1990s version had the most extensive range ever. Built in Swindon and co-developed with Rover, Honda’s version of the Rover 400 enjoys better residual values. As such, Civic is not a cheap used car choice, but ride and refinement are among the best in the class, engines are smooth and quiet, and excellent Honda reliability gives peace of mind for a great used car proposition

Comfort

Impressive ride even on sporty models and seats are well designed for support. Smooth engines contribute to a relaxing environment and with the compliant ride quality, there's little in this class that can match the Civic for comfort. Interior space can't really be faulted although more modern cars now offer greater room in the class.

Practicality

Reasonable boot space although it's not that deep, with good access thanks to a wide opening. Split folding rear seats allow larger items to be carried.

Behind the wheel

Like most Japanese cars of this age, the interior is all black plastic enlivened only by the pattern of the seat material. However it is reasonably durable and easy enough to get comfortable in. Easy to drive with light steering and good visibility.
