Honda Civic Hatchback (00-05) - Review

Review by Dan Harrison on
This Civic may have been replaced by a snazzier model, but it's still does the job of being a family car very, very well. It still looks fresh, has a roomy, clever, interior and is fitted with zestful VTEC engines. It’s a popular with used buyers looking for a respectable family car that’s unlikely to let them down. A minor revamp for 2004 gave us quieter interiors and subtly restyled headlights. Build quality is typical Honda: well engineered and utterly reliable.

Buying used

There are three Civic bodystyles in this generation: the short-lived Coupé that ran from 2001-2003, three and five-door hatchbacks and an eco-friendly hybrid saloon. A minor facelift in 2004 resulted in quieter interiors and subtly restyled headlamps.

Selling

You'll be setting your asking price higher than equivalent Astras, Focuses and Corollas, as Civic - with its dependable reliability and generous equipment - is thought of as a cut-above. Be prepared for some buyers to try to bring your price down to that of its rivals.
