Huge road presence, good off-road ability
-
Noisy, thirsty, brash and poorly packaged
It's almost pointless judging the Hummer H3 by the standards of other cars. It's one to polarise opinion, with, we suspect, more people being turned off by its brash styling than admire it's considerable off-road ability. The H3 is, in fact, the smallest Hummer to date, and the first one imported officially by General Motors in right-hand drive form. It is more compact than the older H2 and tiny compared with the original civilian Hummer H1 of the mid 1990s, based on the Humvee military vehicle. The bold, square styling and chrome will have a certain appeal for many people, and it should be utterly competent off road in most situations. But with petrol power only it's thirsty, unrefined and there isn't as much room inside as you might expect.
