Hyundai Amica (00-03) - Review Review by Parkers on 29 March 2006 Modelled closely on the Hyundai Atoz - the mini people carrier that it replaced - the Amica is cheap, cheerful and nippy around town. By no means a powerhouse, it is efficient at its job, only sips the fuel and it doesn’t have a bad equipment list either - especially on GSi versions. The Amica is very narrow, so bigger adults will feel cramped, but the tall body design does give plenty of headroom and there is easily enough room in the back for the kids. 3 out of 5 Other Hyundai reviews Summary Facts & Figures Equipment Driving & Performance Comfort Costs Safety & Reliability Buying & Selling Also Consider Company Car Info Owners' Reviews Gallery 3 out of 5 Comfort Although there is plenty of headroom, the combination of hard seats and insufficient shoulder- and legroom makes the Amica tiring on longer journeys. The tiny wheels tend to find every pothole on uneven roads, so the ride can be bumpy and irritating, while the engine can be heard when strained at motorway speed. On the other hand, the cloth trim, chrome interior door handles and front grille are a nice finish, giving a touch of class to what is essentially a budget car. 3.5 out of 5 Practicality The Amica is packed with nice practical touches, with the adjustable head restraints, folding rear seats and full-length centre console - complete with drink holders – all lending a helping hand towards making your journey that little bit easier. On the flip side, the Amica’s compact design means that boot space is on the small side, while motorway journeys are best kept to a minimum. Get a Hyundai Amica valuation 3 out of 5 Behind the wheel The quality level inside the cabin is generally acceptable and the Amica provides a high seating position - due to its tall design - that is good for visibility and ideal for views over town traffic. It is small and nippy, and everything on the dash seems to be in the right place, while parking is so easy due to its petite body and responsive handling at low speeds.
