Isuzu Trooper (92-03) - Review Review by Parkers on 01 January 1992 The long-running Trooper is popular for its durability, versatility and chunky styling. It's not the most civilised road vehicle, but it's a fine workhorse for agricultural use and for towing. Not as nearly as refined as a Range Rover, Grand Cherokee or Shogun, Trooper is very tough and costs considerably less to buy than the opposition. The current range, launched in mid-1998, features the most powerful turbo-diesel engine available in this class of vehicle. It's not posh and it's not cool, but it's a very effective tool for a tough job. 3 out of 5 Other Isuzu reviews Summary Facts & Figures Equipment Driving & Performance Comfort Costs Safety & Reliability Buying & Selling Also Consider Company Car Info Owners' Reviews Gallery Also Consider 3 out of 5 Nissan Patrol (98-09) Superb off-road ability, huge road presence, ideal workhorse, practically indestructible Unrefined on-road, heavy steering, spongy brakes, dated inside, noisy engine Read full review 3 out of 5 Mitsubishi Shogun (00-06) Strong off-road ability, robust build quality, very reliable Poor on road handling, agricultural diesels Read full review 3.5 out of 5 Toyota Land Cruiser (03-09) Genuinely capable off road, well equipped as standard, plenty of interior space, available with seven seats Others are better on-road, bouncy ride Read full review Find other 4x4 cars Car Valuations Find used car prices with Parkers accurate car valuations.
