Sometimes you wonder when enough’s enough, and when you consider the thinking behind the outrageous Jaguar XKR-S you’ll realise that those who gave this thing the go-ahead simply had their hands over their ears when caution was being urged. The thing is, the brutish Jaguar XKR that preceded the ‘S’ was more than enough to please the performance junkies but Jag felt it still wasn’t done and got going with the Porsche GT3-rivalling XKR-S Coupe.

Buying new

Jaguar expects to sell around 200 XKR-S’s in the UK every year with a 50/50 split between the Coupe and Convertible. Those low numbers will tell you it's unlikely that you'll be able secure a discount. It’s a car where demand promises to outstrip supply.

Since there’s a limited number available, you would expect resale values to be stay fairly strong. According to used car experts they are on par with a Mercedes-Benz SL AMG, but less than the more desirable Maserati GranCabrio Sport V8. Look for cars with low mileage, and because Jaguar owners are usually a fastidious bunch a full service history should be the norm.

Selling your XKR-S should present few problems because it’ll be a sought-after car and with so few examples on offer you will not have to reduce your asking price too much to attract Jag-hungry buyers. It’ll help if your car been serviced by a franchised Jaguar dealer.
