Jeep Cherokee (93-01) - Review Review by Parkers on 01 January 1993 Demand for stylish four-wheel drive transport took off rapidly in the early '90s, and Chrysler Jeep seized the opportunity to introduce the proven Cherokee to British buyers in 1993. It competes directly with the Land Rover Freelander for the affections of city-folk and suburbanites who want a good looking, well packaged vehicle and aren't too worried about the running costs. All models have selectable dual mode 4WD; 4.0 also has a limited-slip differential, cruise control. Sport: 15" pepperpot alloy wheels, roof rack. Limited: electric seat adjustment, electric mirrors, 15" cross spoke alloy wheels, 6-speaker RDS radio/ cassette. Limited SE: leather upholstery (optional on Limited). Revisions March 95: larger front seats, revised switchgear and wider front wheel arches. 4.0 engine was revised in 95 for greater torque output at low revs. March 97: new grille, bumpers, wheel arches; better heat/vent system and sound insulation, re-styled interior; tilt/adjust steering column. High spec Orvis launched March 99 with leather trim. Base 2.5, 2.5 TD and 4.0 Classic launched Sept 99.
