Jeep Grand Cherokee (05-10) - Review Review by Matthew Proud on 25 June 2008 The Grand Cherokee is a much improved large 4x4, with convincing off-road capabilities and the rugged looks to boot. The familiar shape and style is carried over from the previous model, while a handful of new engines and better road manners have broadened the car's appeal. Four engines are offered but it's the 3.0-litre diesel which is more popular than the three petrol V8 units, as it strikes a more acceptable balance between power and fuel economy. The Grand Cherokee isn’t flawless and rivals like the Land Rover Discovery offer more room and a higher-quality finish for similar money. But overall, it's a stronger package than ever. 3.5 out of 5 Other Jeep reviews Summary Facts & Figures Equipment Driving & Performance Comfort Costs Safety & Reliability Buying & Selling Also Consider Company Car Info Owners' Reviews Gallery Also Consider 4.5 out of 5 Land Rover Discovery (04 on) Quality feel, spacious and comfortable cabin, good road manners, unstoppable off-road, superb refinement, iconic image Rear seats tricky to fold, sluggish performance from 2.7 TDV6 Read full review 4 out of 5 Volkswagen Touareg (03-09) Great off road, premium car feel, astonishing V10 diesel, refined and quiet on the move, Bluemotion model available Lacks the upmarket image of a BMW X5 or Range Rover Sport Read full review 3.5 out of 5 Toyota Land Cruiser (03-09) Genuinely capable off road, well equipped as standard, plenty of interior space, available with seven seats Others are better on-road, bouncy ride Read full review Find other 4x4 cars Car Valuations Find used car prices with Parkers accurate car valuations.
