Kia Cerato Hatchback (04-06) - Review

Review by David Ross on
The Cerato was Kia's short-lived stop-gap hatchback before the vastly superior Ceed came along in 2007. It was designed for 'European' tastes but unfortunately the dour and ungainly looks, along with a low rent and cheap-feeling interior meant few people bought one. It's a good value used buy - as long as the price is low enough - and is an ideal choice if you want a reliable runabout. The diesel engine is pretty good, but ultimately there are plenty of better cars available for the same money.

Buying used

The Cerato can be a good bargain if you're after a cheap runabout. The diesel commands a small premium over the petrol but it's only worth paying extra if you intend on covering high mileages.

Selling

Demand isn't strong for the Cerato - Kia isn't as well recognised on the used market as mainstream makes and the Cerato is a fairly unknown badge. You could struggle to sell one quickly, but priced right it will shift.
