Kia Magentis (01-05) - Review Review by Parkers on 01 January 2001 If you've never heard of the Magentis, then it's unlikely you knew about it's predecessor, the Clarus: executive cars with lowly brand values tend to be overlooked and forgotten. Worse still, they shed value long before the new car smell has worn off. However, this Mondeo-sized saloon - which shares components with Hyundai’s Sonata - is extremely well-equipped for the money, spacious and beats many rivals on rear accommodation . It has a refined and smooth V6 engine and quality is generally better than the old Clarus, but the primary selling point is the exceptional value for money this car represents. 2 out of 5 Other Kia reviews Summary Facts & Figures Equipment Driving & Performance Comfort Costs Safety & Reliability Buying & Selling Also Consider Company Car Info Owners' Reviews Gallery 1.5 out of 5 Running costs V6 averages about 27mpg, is fairly expensive to insure at group 15 and depreciates at an horrific rate. Emissions summary Magentis performs badly on the eco front. With an average of 224 g/km CO2 across the line-up, its emissions are a little high for an executive saloon. It's worth noting that the line-up does not feature any diesel models, which typically produce less carbon dioxide than petrol engines with similar power outputs. The range is quite thirsty, averaging 29 mpg. Find the exact engine and CO2 Car Valuations Find used car prices with Parkers accurate car valuations.
