Medium-sized car for supermini money and there are some great special offers around. Simple, basic transport with a good aftersales package and plenty of equipment. Re-sale values are low, but most owners keep them for long enough not to mind.

Buying used

Buyers tend to hang onto them, so most will be ex-demonstrators/courtesy cars. Service history is essential, don't pay too much.

Best bet is to part-ex it at a Kia dealer. Otherwise, price it sensibly and buy a good book - don't expect a flood of calls.
