Kia Sedona (99-06) - Review

The Kia Sedona offers a package that's hard to beat. It's roomy, flexible, well-equipped and available at a price that won't break the bank. It's a Chrysler Voyager-class vehicle for around the price of a Renault Scenic - with room for a family of seven plus space for luggage. Most buyers opt for the diesel models - the latest 2.9 CRDi is smooth and economical. The downside is so-so build quality on early models and a poor Euro NCAP crash test score.

Sedona performs fairly badly on the eco front. With an average of 229 g/km CO2 across the range, its emissions are a little high for a people carrier. However, it's worth noting that the line up has a high number of diesel models, bringing the average down and giving buyers more choices of low-emission versions. Diesels typically produce less CO2 than petrol engines with similar power outputs. The range is not very frugal, averaging 32 mpg.
