The Lamborghini Murcielago is a king among kings at the top table of supercars. While there might be some small-scale specialist cars and the Bugatti Veyron that are quicker, it’s the Lambo that still captures the imagination like no other, and that is what supercars are all about. It has the scissor doors, colossal power from its V12 engine and the snarling looks of a Rottweiler in a bad mood, so all the supercar prerequisites are fully ticked. What is less obvious at first glance with the Murcielago is how well built it is thanks to Audi's gently guiding hand - Audi has owned Lamborghini since 1998. The Roadster arrived at the start of 2005, but its roof is a joke. The original 6.2-litre 580bhp Murcielago showed that Lambo now knows how to make a car that doesn’t fall to bits, while the LP640 upgrade that arrived in mid-2006 showed Lambo had lost none of its flair for building the most outrageous supercars under the sun. The LP640 is easy to spot courtesy of its more aggressive front styling, while the V12 grew in size and power to 6.5-litres and 631bhp respectively.
