Land Rover Discovery (98-04) - Review Review by Parkers on 01 January 1998 Discovery's got two sorts of reputations, and both are deserved. The first is for being a go-anywhere, do-anything 4x4, happy to tackle snow, mud and desert. The other's not so marketing-friendly; patchy build quality, poor reliability and all-over rust. But the model from 1998 (with major revisions again in May 2002) was a big improvement, with better electronics, more powerful engines and improved safety. 3 out of 5 Other Land Rover reviews Summary Facts & Figures Equipment Driving & Performance Comfort Costs Safety & Reliability Buying & Selling Also Consider Company Car Info Owners' Reviews Gallery Also Consider 2.5 out of 5 Jeep Cherokee (01-07) Strong off-road ability, good standard equipment levels, decent diesel models Thirsty petrol engines, dated and low-rent interior, not particularly spacious, lacks sophistication on road Read full review 3.5 out of 5 Toyota Land Cruiser (03-09) Genuinely capable off road, well equipped as standard, plenty of interior space, available with seven seats Others are better on-road, bouncy ride Read full review 3 out of 5 Kia Sorento (03-09) Capable off-road, neat styling, well equipped, strong diesel engine, spacious cabin Firm ride, steering lacks feel, drab interior design Read full review Find other 4x4 cars Car Valuations Find used car prices with Parkers accurate car valuations.
