Land Rover has taken all its off-road knowledge and put it into an upmarket package to create the excellent Freelander 2. Refinement is a key strength and the Land Rover is as happy plugging through deep mud as it is cruising on the motorway or taking on the school run.

Fitted with a host of safety kit as standard, the Land Rover Freelander 2 safety record boasts a top five star Euro NCAP occupant rating. There are front, side and curtain airbags, ABS, electronic brake force distribution, hill descent control, roll stability control and traction control. There are five three-point seat belts with the front two seat belts fitted with pretensioners and load limiters which are designed to keep the occupants safe in their seats in the event of an accident.

Reliability

Traditionally Land Rover Freelander reliability hasn't exactly been great. However, it's built at the Halewood factory in the UK, which also builds the Range Rover Evoque and has won awards for quality production.
