The LS was the first car produced by Lexus and when it was launched at the end of the 1980s it gave the established luxury saloon builders a bit of a fright in terms of its quality, refinement and value. Later incarnations of the LS, while competent, still lacked the emotional appeal and the image of a BMW or a Mercedes-Benz. The LS460 is the original concept polished and perfected. Build quality matches or betters that of rival luxury saloons, the styling is sleeker and more subtle than its predecessors, it is one of the safest cars available with many 'world firsts' in is specification and it excels in comfort. It is also the first in its class to offer a fuel-saving petrol-electric 'hybrid' system giving Lexus LS buying an alternative to diesel in the LS600h.
