Lexus LS (90-00) - Review

Review by Parkers on
Lexus' goal to take on BMW, Jaguar and Mercedes-Benz, in terms of executive style and capability, are apparent in the LS400, which was rapidly accepted by luxury car buyers worldwide as a well-specced and competent rival to 7-Series and S-Class. It cost a lot less than its premium rivals new, but used values have closed in recent years. LS400 equals its rivals for comfort, spaciousness, power, refinement, equipment and reliability.

Running costs

LS400 undercuts the German manufacturers considerably and is cheaper to run and maintain - though it’s not the epitome of frugality - while parts are expensive but rarely needed. Overall, LS400 is better value than GS300 and is a great alternative to a 7-Series, A8 or S-Class; if you’re not after the ultimate driving experience or your pockets are not deep enough to afford it.
