The Splash arrives

When it comes to small cars Suzuki has built a strong reputation for affordable and fun to drive models - just look at the Swift. I'm hoping that the Splash will be just as good and after six months with the Peugeot 207 SW gives me the chance to put a smaller car through its paces.

I decided to go for the 1.2-litre GLS+ petrol model as the diesel doesn't make much sense in such a small car and won't save much money in the long run. The GLS+ comes with a few extra bits and pieces over the GLS model including 15-inch alloy wheels, front fog lights and privacy glass. This all comes at £500 more than the price of the regular GLS model.

There are a few added extras on the Splash too including rear parking sensors - which at £149 are cheaper than most manufacturers - but there seems little point in having these when the Splash is so small and easy to park.

I'm looking forward to getting out in the Splash and testing it as much as I can in different driving conditions. I'm sure it will cope with traffic-filled city driving with ease, but it will be interesting to see how it performs on the motorway.
