Mazda 2 (03-07) - Review

Review by Dan Harrison on
The 2 may be a Mazda, but it's based on the Ford Fiesta and Fusion and built in Ford's Spanish factory. It offers exceptional versatility and a rejuvenated badge image thanks to funkier Mazdas like the 6 and RX-8. The mixture of Ford durability and Mazda's proven reliability means it's a sturdy and dependable alternative to more mainstream small cars.

Safety

Rated by independent crash test experts Euro NCAP as a four-star car, which is a good score for a car of this size. All cars get twin front airbags, while side 'bags are offered on the Sport (they're optional on other models). ABS was initially only an option on the entry-level S, which was rectified in 2004 when it became standard on all models. Every car has an alarm, deadlocks and an immobiliser.
